WHAT IS THE SGT?
SGT - OR Submission Grappling Tournaments - is a small group of local people that are driven by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and wanting to bring the level of Grappling in Perth to a World Class Standard.
Adam Metcalf is the driving force behind these events, bringing the original BJJ4LIFE to Perth close to 10 years ago.
He has always wanted to provide a 'different' style tournament, which is great value, great fun and open to all levels.
Today, we have the SGT which is Perth's most PROFFESIONAL Grappling tournaments and also one of the BIGGEST!
10 World Class Mats run in the competition area, making this the largest tournament in WA.
WHAT IS THE RULE SET FOR SGT?
SGT runs it's own unique rule set.
There are NO POINTS or ADVANTAGES / PENALTIES.
The tournament is SUBMISSION ONLY. If you do not secure a SUBMISSION, you will not be eligible for a PODIUM FINISH. To take the GOLD MEDAL, you must have the MOST amount of SUBMISSIONS in the SHORTEST TIME. It doesn't matter who submits who, its the total amount of SUBMISSIONS WINS.
For our BROWN BELT TOURNAMENT, we will be running under our modified RULE SET which allows most submissons including HEEL HOOKS, REAPING, TWISTERS, NECK CRANKS (no 'can openers'), SCISSOR TAKE DOWNS and much more.
ILLEGAL - SLAMMING / CAN OPENERS - WALKING / LEAVING THE MAT WHILE IN A SUBMISSION.
THE LAY OUT:
The Brown Belt Tournament will run over two mats, making it a fast tournament and minimizing the rest between bouts for each competitor.
No-Gi will run first, followed by a quick break and back for the GI division.
Each competitor will face each other - a maximum of 10 bouts in both the Gi and No-Gi division.
The rounds are 5 minutes each, no overtime and no sudden death.
If there are no submissions, the bout will be a draw.
SPECTATORS.
DUE TO THE CURRENT LOCK-DOWN RESTRICTIONS, WE WILL NOT PRE-SALE ANY TICKETS.
TICKETS WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE DOOR ON THE DAY FROM 5:00 P.M. ONWARDS
ADULTS $20.00 - KIDS $10.00 (UNDER 10 FREE).
FOOD WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE FROM THE EVENT - A LARGE RANGE OF HEALTHY FOOD, SNACKS AND COFFEE.
SPECTATORS WILL BE LIMITED TO 80 PEOPLE ONLY!
ONCE WE REACH CAPACITY, THERE WILL BE NO MORE SPECTATORS ALLOWED.
FOR THE ATHLETES AND COACHES:
EACH COMPETITOR WILL BE ALLOWED 1 X COACH & 1 X WARM UP PARTNER.
THERE ARE 2 SEPERATE WARM UP AREAS FOR THE COMPETITORS AWAY FROM THE SPECTATORS FOR THE COMPETITORS TO GET READY.
COMPETITORS MUST BE READY AT THE VENUE BY NO LATER THEN 5:00 P.M. FOR A 5:30 P.M. START
